WATER PLANT UPDATE
The Town Commissioners wanted to present an update to our citizens/residents regarding the recent issues the Town has had regarding the operation of the Water Treatment Plant. The Town has contracted with Shore Environmental Services to provide assistance and also has received technical assistance from the Maryland Rural Water Association and the Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE). After recent mechanical failures that have been repaired the Town’s Water Treatment Plant is operating satisfactory and all consumers should be seeing clearer water being provided to their homes.
The Town appreciates the concerns voiced by our citizens and should anyone have any questions regarding this matter, please contact the Town Manager at 410-835-8872.
IMPORTANT PUBLIC NOTICE & WARNING!!!
The Town Commissioners and the Town’s Sanitary Sewer Department are reminding ALL town residents using the sewer system to desist and refrain from disposing of “handy wipes” into the town’s sewer system. The “handy wipes” clog up the system and cause mechanical problems at the sewer pumping stations which require expensive maintenance.
We appreciate your cooperation in this matter.
Due to the work being conducted on the Town of Pittsville’s Comprehensive Plan, the Town’s Planning/Zoning commission will be holding their meetings on the FIRST Tuesday of the month commencing at 6:30 pm at the Pittsville Town Hall. This will be the NEW meeting date/time.
The public is always welcomed!
The Town Commissioners have approved the use of the Automated Speed Enforcement System, also known as the “speed camera” program to enhance the safety within the PITTSVILLE School Zone. The speed cameras will be set up within the school monitoring zone and will be activated by the speed of the vehicle IF 12 miles over the posted speed limit zone. Law abiding citizens will not be affected by this type of enforcement since it is only activated by vehicles passing the camera at an excessive rate of speed.
Notification of those areas to be affected will be posted on the Town’s web site and at the Town Hall for public information.
Anyone with questions concerning this new public safety program can contact the Town’s Chief of Police or Town Manager for further information or clarification.
BE SAFE! AND DO NOT SPEED!
NOTE: EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 2018, A RESERVATION FEE WILL BE CHARGED TO ALL PROPERTY WHERE THE WATER/SEWER ALLOCATIONS ARE NOT IN USE.
NOTE: DUE TO A SOFTWARE UPGRADE, THE UTILITY BILL NOW REFLECTS THE TIME PERIOD IN WHICH THE WATER WAS USED. WE APOLOGIZE FOR ANY MISUNDERSTANDING THIS MAY HAVE CAUSED.
Please be advised that at their regularly scheduled meeting held on June 18, 2018, the Town Commissioners of the Town of Pittsville adopted several changes in the Town’s billing fee structure effective July 1, 2018.
Included as part of the fee structure changes was that those various units operating as businesses that have been billed at the residential rate will now be billed at a commercial rate per business entity. Also, each business entity will also be assessed the quarterly fee of $15.00 as required by the State of Maryland’s Chesapeake Bay Restoration Fund.
Any building structure that had one meter serving more than one business entity will now be billed for each building entity at the commercial rate for both water and sewer service.
Anyone who may have questions concerning this new policy approved by the Town Commissioners may call the Pittsville Town Hall at 410-835-8872 for further clarification and explanation.
